Notes:
FINALLY tortillas I don’t have to feel guilty about eating. They are actually good for me and fun to make. Brings the family together! Makes great wraps, tacquitos in the morning, quick lunch or snack.
Servings: 8 @ 8 inch
Ingredients:
3/4 cup whole wheat flour (we used 10 grain, but you can choose any you like)
1 3/4 cups white flour (either all purpose or protein enriched for making bread and rolls)
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil
3/4 a cup plus 2 tablespoons of water
Directions:
In a medium bowl, sift dry ingredients together.
Add olive oil and stir until the mixture looks like coarse meal.
Add all the water at once to the mixture and mix well by хэнд.
If dough is too sticky, you might need a bit more flour. It can be sticky, but for the most part not stick too badly to your hands. Pinch off a ping pong size ball and roll out flat on a flour dusted surface with a dusted rolling pin. You can turn, flip and roll out the tortilla until it is as thin or thick as you like it. They can get pretty darn thin too! Brown to your liking in a stick proof or lightly sprayed skillet. Package warm in storage bag (can be frozen or refrigerated…warm in microwave when ready to serve again or heat in skillet.)
I мейд these with my hubby and the only trick to learn is that flour is your friend. Use it too keep the dough from sticking to the rolling pin…you can dust them off later if you get too much. The rest is just having fun and being willing to make misshapened ones…I think that takes a lifetime to master. I have never felt so guilt free about eating tortillas in my life…and I have eaten my share!
