Servings: 6
Ingredients:
4 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, quartered, & thinly sliced
2 TBSP Splenda Brown Sugar
1-1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
3 phyllo sheets
1 TBSP butter
1/2 c fresh Berries (choice of Raspberries, blue berries or Strawberries)
1 TBSP Honey
2 tsp Kirschwasser (Cherry brandy)
2 TBSP white wine
1 TBSP Confectioners Sugar (optional)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Combine the applies, brown sugar, cinnamon, & nutmeg in a baking dish
Bake until fruit is tender, about 15 to 20 mins.
Remove from oven and allow mixture to cool
Increase oven temp to 450
Lay the 3 sheets of phyllo in a stack on a large non stick baking sheet
Mound the fruit mixture in a row running along 1 of the short sides of the phyllo, leaving about 1-1/2 inches empty around the apples on the sides
Roll the phyllo and filling over onto itself to form a strudel roll
Place the roll seam side on the baking sheet
Brush the top of the strudel with butter
Score the strudel with sharp knife to the 6 portions
Bake to a golden brown, about 10-15 mins
Allow to cool for 10 mins, then cut into portions
To make the berry sauce, combine the berries, honey, brandy, & white wine in a blender
Puree til smooth
Push through a fine sieve to remove the seeds
Drizzle 6 plates using 1/3 cup of berry sauce
Top with pieces of strudel
Dust with sifting of the confectioners sugar if desired.
